Catfish and Catch Me If You Can

***SPOILERS***
Catfish and Catch Me If You Can are both movies about someone chasing somebody who doesn't really exist.  In Catfish Nev is chasing after Megan who actually is a persona of someone else and doesn't really exist.  This is similar to Catch Me If You Can in which Carl (Hanks) is chasing after Frank's (DiCaprio) several personas while trying to find out who the real Frank Abagnale is.  In the end a large similarity that they both have is that both films character succeeds and chases down and learns who the real Megan or Frank is.
One thing that is vastly different between the two films is that in Catfish the protagonist is the person who is chasing after the persona and searching for the real person.  As where in Catch Me If You Can the person with the fake personas is the protagonist and the antagonist of the film, Carl,  is who is chasing after Frank.  So, the fact that in one film the audience doesn't know who the real person is throughout the film, but in the other film the audience does know who the real person is through the entire movie is the hugest difference between the two movies.

  1. I think you are right in your similarities and differences between both movies. However, I don't think that Carl is chasing after Frank's personae. He figures out pretty quickly that Frank Abagnale is producing the fake checks, so Carl isn't confused about Frank's other personae. He just wants to catch the criminal and bring him to justice.
